As the beautiful season of spring approaches, mornings get lighter, birds start chirping, and life seems that little bit more enjoyable. That’s why it’s such a perfect time of year to make a few changes in your home and get organized for the year ahead.
Here are 6 ways to get your home ready for spring.
1. Clean your windows
During the winter months, your windows can become a lot dirtier than usual due to harsher weather conditions, so when spring arrives, it makes sense to give them a good clean inside and out. Your home will feel light, airy, and a lot more homely.
If your home spans over 2 or 3 floors and you aren’t sure how to go about it, our article ‘5 tips to cleaning high windows like a pro” should give you lots of valuable hints and tips.
2. Clean rugs and carpets
Rugs and carpets can take a bit of a beating and are a breeding ground for germs, odors, and dirt. Freshen them up by using a drop off rug cleaning service or have a professional visit your home and give them a thorough clean. As well as making your home smell fresher, freshly cleaned flooring can transform the look of a room.
3. Clear your closet
As the warmer weather sets in, it’s a great time to pack up your winter wardrobe and make way for your spring and summer collection. You may be tempted to keep it all in one place, but removing the items you won’t wear for at least another six months will free up lots of valuable closet space. This will make it far easier to find the right outfit when you need it.
4. Get rid of things you no longer need
Spring is the most popular time of year to have a bit of a purge of things you no longer want or use, so, tackling one room at a time, go through your belongings, and have a clear-out. You might be shocked at how much stuff you have accumulated. If you have items of any value, you may even make some extra cash selling online or having a garage sale.
5. Add floral touches around your house
Flowers and spring are a great combination, so it’s the perfect season to add some floral touches around your home. A beautiful flower arrangement will always look fabulous on a dining or coffee table, and an artificial floral door wreath will make your home even more welcoming than it already is. If you can’t find anything you like in stores, why not try making your own?
6. Decorate
If you are sick of the same décor around your home, why not step things up a gear and decorate? You might be surprised at the difference a fresh coat of paint, some feature wallpaper, or new soft furnishings and accessories can make to a home.
If you are feeling particularly adventurous and your furniture seems dated or uninspiring, you could always upcycle it too!
