To really get the best out of Instagram, you need to know how to use all of the different functions and features that the app has to offer. That is why we have produced a list below of some of the lesser known things that you can do on the platform that can actually have a real impact on how you use it and what you get from it.
1. Get notifications from any account
If there is an account on the app that you enjoy following and do not want to miss any of the content that is put out by them, then you are able to turn on the ‘Post Notifications’ option. From then on, each and every time that the account posts on Instagram, you will receive a push notification to make you aware of that fact.
To do this, press the ‘Following’ button on the account that you want to keep updated with, then press ‘Notifications’ and then decide if you want to get notifications for live videos, IGTV videos, Stories, posts, or all of them.
2. Save posts
For any photos that you particularly like and want to be able to view again at some point, you can save these and add them to a ‘Collection’ that you have already created.
To do this, simply press on the small bookmark icon at the bottom right of the photo. In order to assign this to a collection, go to your profile and press on the “hamburger” menu, then press ‘Saved’. You will then be presented with all of the photos that you have saved on the platform.
3. Monitor time spent on Instagram
On the app you are now able to keep tabs on how much time you spend scrolling on the platform, as well as how much time you spend on it altogether. To do this, press the “hamburger” menu on your profile, then press ‘Your Activity’ where you will be displayed with the amount of time that you have spent on Instagram each day.
4. Limit screen time
If from this you find that you are spending too much time on the social media platform you are able to ‘Set Daily Reminder’. By doing this, you can place a time limit for how long you want to allow yourself to be on Instagram for on any one day. Once in place, you will be sent a reminder that your allotted amount of time is nearing its end.
Each of these above ‘hacks’ can be used in order to help you not only get the most out of the platform, but to also increase your following on it. There are, of course, other ways in which you can do this, one of them being by using the organic Instagram growth service and automation tools.
